Chapter Three - 1st Grade

What did you think of Chapter 3? Are there any mini-lessons you plan on trying or have already put into use in your classroom?

  1. Great mini lessons. I'm glad there were examples of wrap-around endings. I've always told the kids to "sum it up" or "tell them what you told them". Most kids got it, but these are way better examples.

  2. I like the traffic-light words and the graphic organizer that goes with it. I have transition words on an anchor chart in the classroom for them to use as a reference when writing, but I like the idea of the traffic light better. And...adding to it as you read books. I also liked the section on stretching sentences. I think it would be fun to have them do the stretching sentences activity with a partner to make some silly sentences.
