Chapter Five - 1st Grade

What did you think of Chapter 5? Are there any mini-lessons you plan on trying or have already put into use in your classroom?

We've reached the final chapter! I know many of you are relieved, but I think we've all walked away with something valuable to put towards our writing lessons.

Is there anything else you think we could do to take our learning as teachers to the next level?

  1. i like the vocabulary for revision. i never thought about actually cutting the paper and adding a page to it to stretch it.

  2. I always find a way to have my class read together, do math together, but not write together very often. I'm going to try to do that more with them conferening about each other's writing as well. They could help revise each other's papers. I like the star and a wish exercise and the ice-cream cone rubric. Teaching editing and revising has always been difficult for me, but I'm looking forward to using these minilessons to help my students.
